Color and pattern are usually the first aspects of an outfit that are noticed. Texture is an element which is often overlooked when it comes to planning a head to toe look.  Funnily enough, I learned about the importance of texture in one of my interior design classes and it affected the way I style outfits. Just as silhouettes and colors go in and out of style, so can texture. In fact, I remember having a bright purple, shiny inflatable chair in the 90’s. I also remember pining for red shiny pleather pants like the ones Britney Spears wore. I think it’s safe to say that I had clearly not found my own personal style yet! Anyways, my point is that bright, shiny pleather textures were a fad that have been long gone now, thank goodness. Textures as of late have a more natural feeling which I much prefer. With this outfit, I complimented the gold sequined skirt with a soft sweater and scarf combo and then added nude opaque polka-dot tights. The matte engrained texture of the purple clutch offsets the shiny patent leather bow heels which makes for an altogether noticeably chic outfit!
