My husband and I were on our way to a family party and decided to stop by the Cathedral of the Madeleine in downtown Salt Lake. The combination of the Romanesque exterior and the Gothic revival interior of this building sure makes for stunning architecture. When you take a step inside, one can’t help but feel religious. Inside, the choir concerts performed by the Madeleine Choir School are as lovely as can be, especially during the holiday season! In fact, most of the Christmas music that plays in our house during the Christmas season is choir music by the King’s College Choir, the Vienna Boys Choir, and the Mormon Tablernacle Choir. Now, I am not Catholic but I think it is vital for humanity to show respect towards cultures and beliefs that may differ from that of our own.

“I would encourage members of the Church wherever they may be to show kindness and respect for all people everywhere. The world in which we live is filled with diversity. We can and should demonstrate respect toward those whose beliefs differ from ours.”~President Thomas S. Monson, excerpt from Respect for Diversity of Faiths.

The best part of this little detour to see the cathedral was that it started snowing just as we were about to leave. I was beyond thrilled! It sadly melted later that night, but at least I was able to enjoy it for a little bit this Christmas season!!

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
