I get so much joy out of learning new things and discovering hidden talents. This month I have been working on my letter writing skills and attempting to share what I have learned through writing personal letters.  Shakespeare wrote, ” The purpose of life is to find your gift. The Purpose of life is to give it away.” In my opinion, handwritten letters will never go out of style. Even more so, a well written and thought out letter is a powerful and personal expression of ones inner thoughts. In many of Jane Austen’s novels (Emma is my favorite),  hand written letters are an essential part to the intricate plots. Perhaps that is where my love of fine writing and stationery comes from! For me, happiness is shopping for stationery and when I came across Sugar Paper Los Angelas, I was enchanted by their chic array of paper goods. I knew that with the dapper stationery I had picked out, I shouldn’t ruin it by scribbling something daft like, “Hey, hows it hangin”. That’s why I was thrilled when I found the book, The Art of the Personal Letter by Margaret Shepherd.  The elegant book has helped me write letters that are more Jane Austen worthy. I, of course, had to eat an array of macarons from La Bonne Vie while I attempted to write my first letter to a dear friend who is serving a mission.

Thanks for stopping by and I invite you to explore letter writing for yourself!
