The world is filled with an abundance of awe-inspiring land to explore. I find exploring new parts of the world invigorating and exciting and our trip to Haleakala was definitely worth exploring! The drive to Haleakala from Kihei takes about three hours to drive. To help break up the long drive, we made a stop at Kula Country Farms for some ridiculously fresh papaya! After driving the rest of the winding roads of Kula that went through and over the clouds, we reached the top of Haleakala. Hiking around this national park was one of the highlights of our visit to Maui. I couldn’t get over the feeling I had of being on top of the world! Along with the breathtaking views of the summit was the incredible plant life that surrounded the park. The unique climate of Haleakala allows the endangered Silversword (‘ahinahina) plants to grow. FYI- The temperature changes drastically throughout the day and can get quite chilly so bring a toasty warm sweater, sunscreen and a rain jacket!
